Sometimes it is a need, sometimes it is a choice, but sooner or later it happens to find ourselves packing our things and leave for a solo trip. If it is for working reasons, there is no need of explaining anything, but when we just feel that it is time to take some time to take a break, sometimes something stops us.

Fear of the loneliness? Dread of being judged? Or we simply prefer the company of other people, that’s right! But also travelling alone can have its good aspects and I can assure you that it does worth!

Travelling alone is not a news for me, but it is the first time I do it for such a long period of time. Of course I miss the people I love, but I had the chance to discover some advantages of solo trips! Here are some of them:

1. There is a lot of time to think.

There is actually nobody to talk with, so our thoughts can flow slow and yet sparkling in our mind: memories of the past, dreams, purposes for the future. Taking some time to think is always a good thing.

2. You pay more attention to the people you meet along the road.

This is one of the reasons why a #humandestination (www.humandestination.com) travel is just perfect even when we travel alone.

3. You can sleep and eat when you like to just following your natural instinct. You won’t annoy anybody if you’ll get up at 5.30 in the morning, be ready to bed at 9 pm or you’ll be in search of something to eat at 1 in the night.

4. You can stop all the time you need to take a great picture. Nobody will have to wait for you.

5. You can always find a place where to sit on public transports (well..almost always).

6. You can walk at your own pace, or also run, jump, limp, test different ways to go on.

7. Using the excuse that you don’t want to get depressed, you can eat as much chocolate as you want.

8. You complain less, for the only reason that you have nobody to complain with.

9. You can push yourself till your personal limit and give you challenges, for example walking for 10 km no stop to reach a shelter before the sun goes down or visiting all the museums of a big city. If we won’t do it, we won’t have to tell anybody.

10. You can stop for hours to admire the most embarrassing attractions.

So, switch off your computers, silence your smartphones, wedge all your stuff into a rucksack and leave for a new adventure, it doesn’t matter for how long, it doesn’t matter how many people, you just have to travel, also alone, because travelling is an enrichment by itself!!
